ABOUT DEPARTMENT

In our department, four-year basic education is given in the field of Geological Engineering. In our undergraduate program with a total of 240 ECTS, 18% of the courses are prepared as elective courses, and there are 48 elective courses and 45 compulsory courses in the undergraduate curriculum. Before graduation, our students are required to complete an Internship (Training Course 1/2) of 35 working days, 15 days at the end of the 2nd grade and 20 days at the end of the 3rd grade, and 15 days of Field Work is required in the sixth semester.

The aim of our department is to find solutions to engineering problems with the awareness of social, economic, ethical and aesthetic values, to evaluate subsurface and surface resources, to take part in projects for this purpose, to work in teams, and to transfer this expertise to our students. Thus, our aim is to train them as an expert geological engineer who can take a role in the sector.

As a result of the undergraduate education of our department, respected geological engineers who have internalized basic geological information, gained design, analysis and application skills, have the ability to learn and research, make observations and question the cause-effect relationship will be trained.

Students who have earned a Geological Engineering Bachelor's Degree can continue their education at the graduate level, carry out research studies with the title of Geological Engineer, and work as academic staff in universities.
